PM Surya Ghar FAQ
Who can apply for PM Surya Ghar?
Any household with a domestic electricity connection in its own name, a roof it owns or has the right to use, and no earlier central subsidy for rooftop solar. Commercial and agricultural connections are not covered.
How much subsidy will I get?
₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW or more. The subsidy is paid directly into your bank account after the system is installed and the net meter is working.
Do I pay the full cost first?
Yes. You pay the system cost to the vendor, and the central subsidy is refunded to your bank account after approval. Low-interest bank loans are available under the scheme if you need them; we can guide you through the loan application.
How long does the whole process take?
Installation itself takes one or two days. With KSEB feasibility, net meter installation and subsidy approval, the full process usually takes a few weeks, and the subsidy typically arrives within one to three months.
What happens during a power cut?
A standard on-grid system switches off during a power cut for the safety of KSEB line workers. If you want backup, ask us about a hybrid inverter with a VION lithium battery.
Will I really get free electricity?
A 3 kW system produces around 300–360 units a month on a good roof in Kerala. Extra units you export are adjusted against what you use under net metering, so many homes see their bill drop to only the fixed charges.
